What's Been Happening?

Well, the last few days I've been searching around the web for news about people supporting the troops. There's not a lot out there. But I can tell you there is a LOT going on at Soldiers' Angels.

Soldiers' Angels just had another 300 soldiers sign up just in one day. We're working on getting them all adopted as quickly as possible. Can you adopt a soldier? In addition, we are in need of supplies for our backpacks for the wounded project. When our service members are wounded, they are air lifted so quickly out of the theater, they go without any belongings. Often what they are wearing has to be cut off of them to treat their injuries. We supply a backpack with some basic clothing and hygiene items to get them through. Can you send items or donate money to purchase supplies? In May of this year, we distributed our 5,000th backpack.

In addition we have a new team formed recently. The project is not new, as we have helped many of our troops in this way through the history of the organization, but the team name and how we organize the support is new. The new team is called Operation SOS: KIDS (Say Our Soldiers: Kids In-theater Deserve Support). The purpose of Operation SOS: KIDS is to send humanitarian relief through shipments to American soldiers for distribution to children in Iraq and Afghanistan, and other areas where our Heroes are deployed. We have had many requests from our soldiers asking for items to help them in their humanitarian missions to local towns and villages. Soldiers often give up their own goodies and snacks to be able to share with the children they see every day.

We continue to help support our troops on an individual basis, both deployed and wounded, groups and units, and families back home in a myriad of ways.

Many individual states have different activities going on in upcoming months, I have a few myself in the planning stages that I will have more details on soon.

Another group that I have been active in is Patriot Guard Riders. I'm pleased to report their membership is now over 42,000. Their tireless support and dedication to their mission of showing respect to our fallen heroes is something I am proud to be a part of.
