DC Pictures

I just realized that I never posted any pictures from my trip to DC. So here are a few. These aren't going to be of the most well known sights, I do have pics of those but you have all seen much better photos of the usual monuments and buildings than the ones I was able to snap. Here are a few things you may not have seen, or maybe not from these angles, or just some things that struck me as interesting or humorous for whatever reason.

The escalator from the subway at DuPont Circle. Very steep.

A Cub Scout outside the Museum of Natural History. He was feeding the birds with some popcorn from a nearby vendor's cart while we all waited for the tour bus.

This one requires no explanation except to say that if my Dad was still alive we would have given him a heart attack showing him pictures of us in front of the IRS.

On an upper floor of the inside atrium of the Old Post Office building. You can see the glass elevator on the right. Way below is a courtyard with shops and restaurants, and many tables to sit at. The very best place to grab a quick bite to eat while doing the tourist thing.

In the Old Post Office tower resides the Congress Bells. This was a plaque with info about them. Earlier I had read that there are only certain times the bells are rung, or on nights when the bell player people practice. Which leads me to the next picture...

The bell pull chamber.

Part of the wall at the Lincoln Memorial.

One of a pair of statues at the end of the Arlington Memorial Bridge.

Statue of W.T. Sherman near the White House.

A polar bear looking down at me in the Museum of Natural History.
