Fasting is abstaining from food for spiritual purposes. It is done for seeking the blessings of God, to humble yourself before Him, to make yourself more sensitive and available to Him by putting aside the things of the flesh. Some people may fast at times purely for health reasons, in a non spiritual way, to detox their bodies. It is *not* a means of trying to get your way, to manipulate, to show off, or to make a political point. That would be described as a hunger strike. A hunger strike, in my opinion, is completely pointless and meaningless. If I feel strongly about an issue, I'm not going to hope to convince anyone of anything by me going without food, no matter how much publicity I might get. To me it's all sort of silly, like the little kid who threatens to hold his breath until he gets his way. Or the one who gets mad at his parents and runs away, only to come home an hour later. Can anyone name me an instance where a hunger strike actually accomplished anything except weight and nutrient loss? Now granted, any one person probably isn't going to lose much weight just by skipping a few meals here and there on this rolling fast. But, since when do we have to copy what loony thing the moonbats choose to do?
Would I like it if all the troops were able to come home? Yes, I pray that they will complete the mission. And any fasting I might do to that end is my own business. But for tonight, I think I'm going to eat lots of pizza and ice cream. Why? Because this is America, and I'm free to eat whatever I want, whenever I want. And I bet there would be more than one of our deployed troops joining me in that if they were here.

Who else wants a spoon?
