A Trip To Bradford

Master Sgt. Thomas D. Maholic, 38, of Bradford, Pa., died on June 24 in Ghecko, Afghanistan, when his patrol unit came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire during a cordon and search mission. Maholic was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Maholic started his military career in 1986 when he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, where he was a member of the infantry for five years. He became an active duty soldier in 1991 and volunteered for Special Forces in 1993. During his Special Forces assignments, Maholic was a medical sergeant, an instructor and a team sergeant. Maholic is survived by his wife, Wendy Maholic, and a son, of Fort Bragg; his mother, Dorothy Maholic of Bradford, Pa., and a sister and two brothers.

A certain protest group which has made a name for itself by harrassing the family and friends of our fallen heroes has announced plans to show up at a Memorial Service tomorrow in Bradford, PA. I will be there, flag in hand, with the Patriot Guard Riders.
