Why I "Crossed into the Blue"

In my haste to post the details on the Valour-IT Competition, I failed to explain why I chose to join the AF team this year. My blog buddy Buck picked up on it immediately with surprise that I "crossed into the blue", since he knows that I have a certain fondness for Marines. Last year the Marines were the underdog in this competition, and I was rooting for that team.

Having just recently had a tour of Nellis Air Force Base, where I was impressed with this, and this, among other things, in addition to the fact that when I checked the fundraising stats, AF was in last place, I decided to pitch my hat into that ring. Sorry, Marines, I still love ya, and it looks like you have a pretty good team assembling.

Ah...so it was the T-Birds! You're not their first convert, ya know!!

Not just the T-birds, all the people we met there in general.

Well, thanks VERY much for joining us, Laurie! I too did a double-take when I saw Soldiers' Angels NY on our list ... :) I cannot remember last year which team (as you've said USMC), but WE LOVE YOU on OUR TEAM!!! (i'm sure they do too, no animosity or snubbin' to USMC, just thanks big time for helping us this year!)

Too bad Soldiers' Angels Germany isn't with us too ... having been first stationed at Rhein Main AFB, I'd love them with us too. But, the key is, WE ARE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM!

Let's get to work folks! We have a small second place lead, hopefully we can keep the other teams in our jet-wash!

Funny you should say that, fix4so, because I almost *did* join a different team this year. But when I saw how few people had signed up for the Marines (at least at the time I joined), I thought I'd stick with them again this year.

Like you say, we're all on the same team and I'm proud to be a part of it.

That having been said, GO MARINES VALOUR-IT TEAM!!!! ;-)
