The following is the latest from "Linda D.", member of Soldiers' Angels and Co-Founder of Guardian Angels for Soldier's Pet.
October 22, 2006 Illinois Angel Glenda Spinner and Sonja take time out of their busy days volunteering with Soldiers' Angels to assist Guardian Angels For Soldier's Pet (GASP) transport 2 kitties to Hot Springs, AR.
Course this adventure for the "Fort Knox Kitties" started back in July when their owner, who was bringing them to AR was deployed earlier than expected. The kitties were kept at the Fort Knox vet for 4 days til a pet transport volunteer in IN could pick them up and temporarily take home with her til arrangements could be made to get them to AR. After several failed attempts to make arrangements to get the kitties transported to AR, Glenda Spinner in IL stepped up to the plate and volunteered to help GASP in getting the precious cargo from IN to AR by replying to a post on the GASP message board by Linda Dominik, GASP co-Founder/Natl Board President. Linda is known to many as "Linda D." co-leader of the LWT (Soldiers' Angels Letter Writing Team).
On the morning of October 22, Glenda and Sonja started out to meet Debbie Sosbey (pet transport volunteer from Indiana) in Vandalia, IL to take possession of this precious cargo and then travel onto Blytheville, AR to turn them over to a wife of a AR National Guardsman to care for til the next day when the kitties were then transferred to one of the GASP "Foster Home Coordinators" to be brought to their foster home caregiver in Hot Springs, AR. Glenda not only helped in bringing these pets to AR, but she spent time coordinating the transfer between our IN volunteer, herself, and our Blytheville, AR contact to ensure that the trip went well for everyone involved.
Linda says without Glenda's help, this mission would definitely have taken longer to be accomplished and can not say enough Thank You's to Glenda and Sonja for helping on this mission. Linda D and the kitties owner (now serving in Iraq and receiving support from SA) never anticpated or expected it would take from July to October to travel between KY and AR when this first began.
THANK YOU AND MANY ANGEL "HUGS" from Guardian Angels For Soldier's Pet "Board of Officers", volunteers, and the pet owner to Glenda Spinner, Sonja, and Soldiers' Angels for helping us with our mission to ensure these beloved pets are waiting for their owner's safe return to U.S. soil.
