Typically I don't talk too much about politics here. I don't feel it is very productive. However... and that is a big however... I've about had it with all the political mudslinging, and the parallel implication that voters are gullible and stupid. Whenever a political ad shows an untruth or a half truth about their opponent, the statement made is that the public is too stupid, unequipped, or uninterested to educate themself on the issue at hand and find out the truth. In this age of instant information at our finger tips, it is inexcusable both for the politicians to continue to tell only part of the story, and for the public not to take advantage of the technology available to easily look up the voting records of the incumbents. Any reasonably educated person realizes that bills in the legislature are written with multiple proposals, provisions or conditions, and that a vote for or against a certain bill does not imply that the politician agreed or disagreed with every provision. Equally absurd are the ads that presume how a challenger would vote on a certain issue, based on some bogus extrapolation.
Excuse me while I scream....(Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!)....
That didn't really help. But tomorrow I will go to the voting booth and try to do the best I can with what we've got. Truly, I think the system stinks. It is broken and those in a position to fix it have no motivation to do so. It is more beneficial for them to keep it the way it is.
