Wreaths Across America

Many of you might remember this picture that was making the rounds last year:

Last year I had seen this on several blogs, without the background story. LinkedInUSAF had the story though, about Mr. Morrill Worcester of Worcester Wreath Company in Maine. This fall, I have seen that picture making the rounds again via e-mail. But this year they have expanded to Wreaths Across America.
Spurred by the tremendous outpouring of letters and interest, and to celebrate the 15 years of giving, Worcester Wreath Company solicited Civil Air Patrol and its members to help expand the reaches of the Arlington Wreath Project with Wreaths Across America – the placing of memorial wreaths during a special ceremony at each of the over 230 State and National Cemeteries, and Veterans Monuments across the country.

Morrill Worcester - President of Worcester Wreath Company explains his desire to develop the Wreaths Across America project:

"Our goal is to expand the recognition of those who serve our country, both past, present, and future, as well as their families who deserve our support. Without the sacrifices of our veterans, there would be no opportunity to enjoy the freedoms, the life we live today."

More from their website:
You Are Invited...to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony and activities at Arlington National Cemetery, or at any of the locations across the Country on

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

See location list for specific times and schedule. A Moment of Silence will be held at ALL locations at Noon EST(sharp).

We hope you will be able to join us at Arlington National Cemetery or one of the other participating locations across the Country.

For those not able to attend, please pass the word that there will be a Moment of Silence at Noon EST, where people all across the Nation will stop and share a silent thank you, to all those who serve, to all we've lost, and to their families who will be without loved ones this holidays.

Below is a must-see video by Worcester Wreath:
