What's Behind the Drop?

From the Associated Press:

The latest AP-Ipsos poll, taken as a bipartisan commission was releasing its recommendations for a new course in Iraq, found that just 27 percent of Americans approved of Bush's handling of Iraq, down from his previous low of 31 percent in November.

Could this drop be attributed to the President's recent change in what he has been saying? We have heard the same message from our President since day one, the message stay the course. I respected the fact that he always stuck to his convictions no matter what. But now he has changed his tune and it seems to be purely because of politics. What a difference a few weeks makes.

I'm sure there is some in depth analysis going on about these poll numbers, but this is just my own opinion.
