SGT O. in Urgent Need

SGT O. (age 41) is an E-5 who has a blended family of five children (ages 17, 11, 9, 6, and 2) and his sixth child is due in early August. His wife doesn’t work due to the large family and a high-risk pregnancy (she is 41). SGT O. has been deployed to combat zones four different times (first time was in 1991 for Persian Gulf War, and the last two have been to Iraq). During his last deployment to Iraq from which he returned in November, 2006, he was exposed to a lot of bad situations. I will save the descriptions, but believe me, they were horrendous. He is being treated for PTSD, Chronic Type. This soldier is currently in very serious financial need as well, and he is scheduled to be deployed again in April, 2008.

This soldier needs immediate assistance with money for food and basic necessities for his family (the cost of a month of groceries for 2 adults and 5 children). He really needs some assistance with long-term transportation (a down payment on a used van) that will fit all of his family members. In a few months, he will have no transportation whatsoever and a wife who is in the last month of a high-risk pregnancy, along with strain of having five other children and no way to transport the family.

Funding Requests: $600 for groceries and immediate needs; $1000 to $1500 for a down payment for a used vehicle (any amount would be greatly appreciated); or gift cards to pay for necessities that will free up money that can be saved for the vehicle.

The children are a girl age 17, boy age 11, boy age 9, boy age 6, boy age 2, and a baby girl due in August.
