To Whom It May Concern:In addition to training and competing year-round in Tae Kwon Do, he also participates in another sport each season: basketball, football, track, soccer... All the while maintaining a straight "A" average in his classes. I think you will agree that Jawaun is one of the brightest and most motivated youngsters and is well deserving of his successes.
My name is JaWaun Stanley from Marine Corps Base Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. I am 10 years old and am very involved in Tae Kwon Do as a competitive sport. My father is a veteran of OIF 2 serving in Al Qaim Iraq and is due to deploy again to Iraq for a second tour this summer. My reason for writing is I am looking for sponsors to help defray some of the costs associated with competition and travel.
Tae Kwon Do is a martial art that combines physical fitness; self defense, exercise and teaches discipline and self-control. I have been training since I was five years old. During that time I have earned many medals. Here a few tournaments that I’ve competed in. I have attended the North Carolina State Games where I won double gold in fighting and Forms. It was that victory that earned me a spot in the 2006 Junior Olympics. There I had the honor of winning a Silver medal in Sparring and I won 4th place in Forms. Since then I have participated in the South Eastern Sports Festival in Alabama, where I won double gold in Sparring and Forms and the most recent tournament I competed in was The Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio where I also won double gold. Since March 2006, I am currently undefeated.
In addition to the tournaments that I have won, I recently won a competition with Cartoon Network. It will consist of a 1 to 2 minute commercial between shows. It will air the month of May. Since then, I have had more opportunities to travel and compete including the upcoming National Qualifiers in Providence, Rhode Island on 4-20-2007 and the upcoming 2007 Junior Olympics in San Jose, California in July.
My family and I would appreciate any help you might give, whether it is a one-time donation, health foods, Gatorade, continuing sponsorship, or if you can help spread the word.
Sincerely,
Jawaun Stanley
