ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A newly created quartermaster unit with more than 130 soldiers will be based at the Army Reserves training center in Rochester.
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer of New York announced Tuesday that the Army plans to send 137 members of the 490th Quartermaster Company to the upstate installation.
The 490th is scheduled to arrive in Rochester in 2012.
Schumer says he's still trying to convince the Army to keep the 98th Division at the Rochester facility. More than 80 members of the 98th are scheduled to move to Fort Benning in Georgia in 2013.
