Transitional Home for Female Vets

The first transitional home for homeless female veterans in New York has recently been established.

Zion House is located in Avon, New York, approximately 20 miles south of Rochester, and provides a safe, supportive home for up to two years.  Support and transportation is provided to services such as medical, dental, substance abuse counseling, etc.  Also available is assistance gaining employment, education and vocational training, financial planning, budgeting and other life skills.  This is possible through partnerships with the Veteran's Outreach Center of Rochester, and the VA in Canandaigua.

Zion House can serve up to six women at a time.  For more information or to donate, please visit their website or call 585-991-3545.

With more than 200,000 women having served in the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan, places such as Zion House are needed.
